This year’s Haunted Happenings Grand Parade, hosted by the Salem Chamber of Commerce, was a night I’ll never forget. Among the lights, music, and community joy, I had the incredible honor of not only watching but also dancing alongside my daughter and her team from Studio 21 in a truly magical and meaningful performance.

The performance, choreographed by the talented Danielle Beatrice, was a heartfelt celebration of connection and creativity. Being able to be a part of it, dancing with my daughter, her friends, and our amazing community was an emotional experience that reminded me exactly why I do what I do.

For me, this wasn’t just another event, it was real life. These are my children, their friends, their dance studio, and the people who have been part of our lives for over a decade. The energy, the authenticity, and the love that filled the streets of Salem that evening captured everything I believe in: community, creativity, and togetherness.

The song choice made the performance even more powerful. So many people asked about it and with good reason. It came from The Greatest Showman, a song that carries deep meaning about strength, individuality, and empowerment. It speaks to the history of women and in Salem, to the story of witches, as symbols of resilience and creativity.

Dancing through the streets that night felt like a full-circle moment: women and children, united in movement and light, celebrating the freedom to be who we are and to share that joy with the world.
